The Spanish footwear company Mascaró will open its first Pretty Ballerinas boutique in New York on November 12th. Thanks to celebrities like model Kate Moss, the brand is growing in popularity.
The store will be located on Lexington Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Pretty Ballerinas is one of three trademarks belonging to the Mascaro family, which also operates the companies Ursula Mascaro and Jaime Mascaro. Pretty Ballerinas, which was created in 2005 in homage to the company’s origins, became very well known when Letizia Ortia, the Princess of Asturias called it her favorite shoe.
The firm manufactures 500,000 pairs of shoes a year, 95% of which are made on the island of Menorca. Half of the shoes produced are ballet flats, which generate € 16 million in turnover annually. Mascaro exports 50% of its footwear abroad.
The company has a network of 49 establishments in Europe, Asia and the United States and is about to introduce the brand in Barcelona, Tokyo, Milan and Dubai.
