Iberdrola president Ignacio Sanchez Galan announced that through its subsidiary Energy East Central Maine Power, the Spanish electric company will install 650,000 new smart grid meters that will service residential customers, businesses and industries.
Galan made the announcement during a visit he and Spanish Minister of Industry Miguel Sebastian made to the Twin Butts Wind Farm in Colorado.
The project is part of a plan to modernize North American electricity grids so that the system can incorporate renewable energy.
