This one-of-a-kind event will feature forty-two different cheese producers from all over Spain, representing cheeses from Galicia, Asturias, Catalonia, Castile-León and Castile-La Mancha, among others. Some of the cheeses on display will include Picón Bejes Tresviso, Quesucos de Liébana, San Simón da Costa, Cabrales, Mahón-Menorca, Tetilla, Arzúa-Ulloa and Idiazabal, to name a few.
The objective of this fair is to promote these wonderful Spanish cheese products, while particularly stressing the importance of PDO Queso Manchego as a regional delicacy that has brought measures of fame and economic prosperity to Castile-La Mancha. The fair will be open to specialty distributors, buyers and restaurateurs, as well as the general public.
This fair will take place a mere two weeks after the city inaugurated the new Queso Manchego Museum, which opened in Manzaaneres on March 21st, 2014. Unique to the world, this museum highlights the history, culture and traditions surrounding this renowned cheese, which is exported all over the globe and revered for its quality and characteristics.
The museum is housed in a restored corral in one of the town’s historic buildings, and features expositions, as well as a wide variety of information and activities including tastings, audiovisual tours of how this cheese is made and recipe suggestions.
