From May 8-11th, ham specialists from the production area of Jerez de los Caballeros in Badajoz (Extremadura) will be on hand for the 25th edition of the Salón del Jamón Ibérico de Jerez de los Caballeros (Jerez de los Caballeros Ibérico Ham Fair), to promote this quality product and the surrounding production area and producers.
This four-day event will feature a range of different activities including tasting and ham carving competitions, gastronomic encounters, trade meetings, technical workshops and cultural and leisure activities for professionals and locals alike.
Perhaps most importantly, this fair will serve as a specific meeting point for producers and Ibérico ham makers, who will come together for the purpose of unifying the industrial and commercial potential of the area and thereby achieving greater promotion in the export market. To this end, an estimated 25 companies will participate in this event, which will also welcome importers from Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy and the Czech Republic.
This fair forms part of the official Ruta de Jamón Ibérico Dehesa de Extremadura (Route of Ibérico Ham from Dehesa de Extremadura). This route offers tourists the opportunity to get a first-hand look at the magnificent Ibérico pig; from visiting the dehesas, or pastures where the pigs are raised, to observing the ham making process up-close. It also emphasizes the area’s gastronomy and reverence for this exquisite project.
